If not, what is the differance between a Gamer and a Player?

gamer: A person who plays electronic games
player: A person playing men/women for money and favours

So it is somewhat redundant (but it does not bother me at all). If you think, laptop is also a kind of hardware, so Hardware & Laptops is also somewhat of a redundancy. Which does not bother me neither.

The name redundancy is probably mostly so that we have better acronyms for the forums.
