I have Zoom x4 adsl usb modem, and I haven't got it work on a Linux-box yet. It has a usb and a ethernet connection points, for two machines. eth works with Linux w/o any problems but usb one isn't working (but it's working under windows :( ). As far i know, manufacturer suppliess no useful info about getting it work under Linux. I have tried adsl-setup & start, but nope...

Anyone knows a way around?...

Well, the manufacturer Zoom Telephonics says it ought to work with linux, but they might be being sneaky and just talking about the ethernet part. Next logical place to check would be the kernel configuration's USB device drivers, see if there's anything relevant - ahah, "USB modem support."
Quote:
This driver supports USB modems and ISDN adapters which support the Communication Device Class Abstract Control Model interface. Please read <file:Documentation/usb/acm.txt> for details. If your modem only reports "Cls=ff(vend.)" in the descriptors in /proc/bus/usb/devices, then your modem will not work with this driver.

To compile this driver as a module, choose M here: the module will be called cdc-acm.
So build and install that module, 'modprobe cdc-acm' and plug in your router, then see if interesting things in dmesg or /dev show up.

Given zoom's own statements in their database, it's quite possible this won't work, but they also give a link to something that might: accessrunner.

Hope this is a good starting point.
