i have a abit AT7 max motherboard someone gave me.... i'd like to run gentoo on it... it's a beast with 6 DMA controllers... and a lot of other fun stuf... but it has no ps2 no parralel port no serial port only usb.... usb and linux have never been best of friends... is it dooable? whats compatibility with usb keyboards? i already have usb mice on gentoo systems no probs but never tried keyboards....

Seems pretty fine to me. If the chipset is supported by the kernel you won't have any problem. The usb support is actually more than fine, you only have to turn on the HID support in the kernel and go....... |

Haven't got any problems with usb mouse this far. My friends have succesfully used n-gage, digital cameras and even printer with memorycard reader successfully in linux... |
