Hi,
I tried emerge courier and go back the following:

yet there is a fam.h in /usr/include/fam.h. Is this another lib32 vs lib64 issue? I tried the same build at work on a x86 system and got no complaints about the fam.h. I also checked the fam.h looks identical between the two. _________________ "No man has ever achieved immortality in his own lifetime." -- Thomas Weller

Sort of solved, a bugzilla tracker was submitted (see 89478) by Mr. Fistler on Apr 18th. I will remove the question mark (on the solved) when the tracker gets addressed.

gentoo bug 89478 contains the following solution:
------- Additional Comment #11 From Roy Marples 2005-05-06 10:03 PDT -------
Created an attachment (id=58214) [edit]
fixes fam.h to #include <limits.h> instead of #include "limits.h"
This fix worked for me.
I don't know why Roy is not applying the patch and closing the issue.
But at least we got a solution in the meantime.

I can confirm that as of this writing, the bug still exists.
