i had tryd 6 drivers for the rt2500 in the gentoo-2.6.11-r3 kernel...
the only one that worked was.. RT2500.1.4.4....
I have instaled and compiled
after compiling i had rund de module
modprobe rt2500
module not found
/sbin/insmod rt2500 module loaded
ifconfig ra0 up
I have rund the utility and i vas connected
after i had rebooted the machin
the module didn't load and
i had do insmod again
then i made ifconfig ra0 up
and then the problem started
the autoload-module
fails at start to load the rt2500
module
and afeter I tyed to compiled a nother driver
the module tels that its invalid....
can any one helpme

yes i have benn their that drivers are the ones in the merge...
don't work...
i load the module...
ifconfig ra0
no such device with that drivers....

This is not constructive, but FYI I binned my MSI ralink 2500 802.11g card because of what sounds exactly like the problem you experience. I spent 2 weeks trying to get the think working, the best result I got was it'd work at 5-10% performance for 30 minutes max, then kernel panic.

Junk cards those

I *had* :-) one of these:
MSI 802.11g PCI Card Adapter (PC54G2)
which is based on the ralink ra2500 chipset.
