Ok, I am really lost on how to setup my cdburner for cd recording support. I tried following the kernel scsi emulation guide, but that just lead to where I could not access my cddrive, and couldnt even attempt to burn. Any ideas at all? As of right now, I have no /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 device.

try these:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_CD_Burning_for_Dummies
for scsi-emulated cd-burning (easier for me, no problem setting it up)

http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ATAPI_CD_Burning
atapi burning, w/o emulation. The Proper way.
