Hello,
Does anyone have a working xorg.conf file from an Ultra 5 with a Sony / Sun GDM-20D10?
Does anyone know where I could find the manual (in PDF) for the monitor? I've looked at Sun's and Sony's WWW site but not been able to find anything.
Thanks. |

What is your graphics card? If you have Creator or Elite graphics, you don't need to do anything special at all; that is a standard sun monitor and should "just work" (assuming you have correct connectors). Otherwise, you can find the specs for the monitor itself by using a fairly exhaustive web search. (I know because I have done it; I even have the specs for the monitor lying around someplace, but I haven't a clue where, so your waiting for me to dig them up would not be a good strategy. )
Regards,

Let me revise my answer. It was based on a GDM-20E20. GDM-20E10 is probably OK, but I can't speak to it first hand. |

I've done quite a lot of looking. Most references to the GDM-20D10 talk about adapting it to run on a PC - various hardware adaptors. The few documents I've found describing the technical characteristics eg scan rates are contradictory. I've found one "modeline" string which works but at a resolution that is too high - 1280 x 1024. Very few talk about running it with X.
When the tech sheet talks about 60-81 KHz (Kilo Hetrz) [sic] one isn't inspired with much confidence.
Keyboard and mouse appear to be working ok.
I'm about 20 hours into emerging gnome. Only 44 more items to download, compile and install. |

If it still interesting - the following works fine for me:
Section "Monitor"
HorizSync 60.0 - 90.0
VertRefresh 95.0 - 101.0
ModeLine "1024x768" 100 1024 1024 1184 1264 768 776 784 817
EndSection |
