|
|
I'm trying to get a Speedstream 1021 Wirless PCMCIA card to work on my compaq armada 7400, but am running into problems before I even get cardmanager running.
Whenever I try to modprobe i82365 or ds, my screen fills up with a lot of numbers, finally completly locking my computer and terminating with...
...[<c01c4013>] [<c0194759>]<1>Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address c8000000
printing eip:
c0109560
*pde = 00000000
This is printed to neither standard error or standard output, but apparantly to the root terminal (ie the one active on boot). I can't figure out how to redirect it to another file, and since the comp is frozen I can't scroll up, either.
Anybody know why this is happening? I can modprobe this stuff fine running from the livecd (although I haven't gotten the card to work from there either). Any help would be great, thanks,

Those numbers scrolling across the screen that you saw are called a "kernel panic" That should never happen. The first thing I would try is to remerge pcmcia-cs, making sure that /usr/src/linux is the same tree that your running kernel came from. If that doesn't help, then send me an e-mail, and I will walk you through getting kernel pcmcia working with pcmcia-cs. _________________ Chad |
