I installed Gentoo about a week ago, from the two cd set I bought from the Gentoo Store. All went well except at the reboot after the install. Grub boots me up, but apparently my video card isn't coming up. I get a blue rectangle in the middle of the screen that says out "of range h: 29.2k V: 70.5." So far I haven't been able to even get to a login prompt or a command line. I've searced the forums and googled the message but nothing I've found works.
I recompiled the Kernerl, thinking that maybe I overlooked something, following the ati instructions I found on this forum, but nothing changed. Default runlevel in inittab is at 3, I can't believe that my machine won't even work in VGA mode. Haven't even got to the point where I could install anything from the second cd, I'd just like to at least get to a command line instead of having to use the installation or knoppix cd to get into it.
Anyone know what I overlooked or have any suggestions?

Do you use framebuffer? If so, maybe you should try plain VGA mode instead. If it works, you can then try and solve the framebuffer problem... |

Didn't work. I think maybe it's looking for the video card in the agp slot, which is empty. The video card I'm using is in a pci slot. When I get time I'll try working that angle and see if that will work.
