I am trying to use a usb floppy drive. When I plug the drive in with no diskette in dmesg shows ....
Quote: | usb 1-1.1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 11
scsi7 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 11
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
Vendor: Y-E DATA Model: USB-FDU Rev: 3.12
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi7, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
Attached scsi generic sg0 at scsi7, channel 0, id 0, lun 0, type 0
usb-storage: device scan complete
|
But if I plug in the drive into the usb port with a diskette in, I get this...
Quote: | usb 1-1.1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 12
scsi8 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 12
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usb-storage: device scan complete
|
Note that it did not recognize the device Vendor, Rev, Type or anything.
Now if I plug the drive into the usb port without a diskette and have HALD running, then put the diskette in I get this...
Quote: | sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
sda : status=0, message=00, host=7, driver=00
sda : sense not available.
sda: assuming Write Enabled
sda: assuming drive cache: write through

I don't have a clue on this, except perhaps to point you to the Gentoo Udev Guide, have you taken a look at it? _________________ noup. |
