After having updated to the new stable version of grub, my system doesn't boot anymore.
I get the menu, but when selecting an entry, it shows the following error:
Code: |
Booting 'Gentoo Linux 2.6.11.7'
root (hd0,1)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/linux-2.6.11.7 root=/dev/hda2 ro vga=791
[Linux-bzImage, setup=0x1400, size=0x14f997]
savedefault
Error 15: File not found
Press any key to continue... |
At first I tried to reinstall grub in the mbr, but it didn't help.
I've now switched back to grub-0.94-r1 the former stable version and everything works fine again.
I this problem already known, what can I do?
Thanks
CHL
Here's my menu.lst:
Code: |
default 0
timeout 5
color cyan/blue white/blue
title Gentoo Linux 2.6.11.7
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/linux-2.6.11.7 root=/dev/hda2 ro vga=791
savedefault
boot
title Windows NT/2000/XP
root (hd0,0)
savedefault
chainloader +1

I think your problem is related to the savedefault command, try and check if there is a file called "default", if not that might be the problem, otherwise, I'd suggest you don't use the savedefault feature yet, since it seems not to be fully out of beta, but i might be wrong with this assumption
Cheers,
Jean. |

@ JeaN:
Thanks for the tipp. It solved the problem. After I deleted the savedefault entries in the menu.lst everything worked.
