i was running kde and everything was fine. Emerging packages, playing around, it was fine. My system was great. All of a sudden, i reboot and i type kdm (which i have done many times before) and it says bash command not found. What happened? what do i do? How do i get back into kde? What if you type the full path?
/usr/bin/kdm
same message? if not then what does your path look like? (check with 'echo $PATH' |

ok, i got my KDE back up and running, but im confused. maybe someone can explain why this works:
earlier i tried to unmerge aRts. (mistake)
well, when stuck w/ my above problem, i emerge arts and now im back up and running. What is up w/ this program. Im trying to kill it because it causes confilcts w/ my soundcard.
i guess my only way to temp kill it is to "killall artsd" -that seems to free soundcard
thanks for your help _________________ We are there, there is here, here is now, now is the time! |

If you don't want arts/artsd to start automatically when you start KDE, go to
Code: |
Control Center -> Sound & Multimedia -> Sound System
|
You can tell KDE not to start it there.
Hope this helps. _________________ Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |
