OK, I don't know how I've done it, but I've royally screwed something up.
I was running an Code: | emerge -uD world today | I last ran this 6 days ago, so there weren't many packages to update. During the emerge of kde-base/kdewebdev-3.3.2-r1 the computer crashed. Not sure exactly what happened because the kids were playing a (kde) game at the time
Anyway, I had to re-start the PC, and when it came back on, I didn't get the nice friendly kdm login screen. Instead I got one that says something like Welcome to XFree86 Inc. Strange because I'm using xorg. When I login, I get TWM instead of KDE. In the console that somes up, if I type Code: | /usr/kde/3.3/bin/startkde | then kde starts in a TWM window! Pretty funky, but clearly not what I want. I tried re-emerging xorg, but that didn't help.
In my /etc/init.d/rc.conf I have the following line: Code: | DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"
XSESSION="kde-3.3.2" |
In /etc/init.d there was no kdm file, so I made a symlink to /usr/kde/3.3/bin/kdm and then did:
Code: | rc-update add kdm default |
Still it doesn't work
Please! What have I done? |
