which kernel version are you running 2.4 or 2.6? i am not running 2005.0, but i received something
similar to this after building linux-2.6.11-gentoo-r6. according to the 2005.0 handbook
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/2005.0/handbook-x86.xml?style=printable&full=1#book_part1_chap7
you should not add dev support to the 2.6 kernel, but if i don't i get the following error message at boot..
Quote: |
The Gentoo Linux system initialization scripts have detected that your
kernel has been compiled without DEVFS support. Because Gentoo Linux
has been designed to work with DEVFS, it is required that you compile
support for it into your kernel. Please read the 'Gentoo Linux from
source (build) CD Installation Guide' at:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/build.html
for more information on how to do this.
(hit Enter to continue or wait 15 seconds...)

this error also comes from /sbin/rc, it is right above the error message that you are getting.... don't know if this helps. thought i would pass it on.. |
