I was mucking around in KDE icons, adding new gentoo icons, and I changed the permissions on /usr/kde/3.1/share/icons/ and up and I lost all my icons. I set them to 644 which killed them. Setting them to 777 did not bring them back. so remerged kdebase and kdeartwork. Nope. rm -dr /usr/kde/3.1/share/icons emerge kdeartwork. Nope. If I click to change an icon or change icons in kcontrol it seg faults. I removed my .kde3.1 dir and nope. Root doesn't have icons. I don't know what is going on.
At least I'm becoming more used to fluxbox. _________________ What Larry was saying is that if you make it too easy for programmers, then poor programmers will be able to do things best left to good programmers, and will inevitably do them poorly. Kindof the same problem here, although I wasn't changing permissions. I was just adding conectiva-crystal and noia first directly from kde-look.org then from emerging and somehow in moving them from /usr/share/icons to /usr/kde/3.1/share/icons I've managed to loss all icons :\ .. |

I fixed this (sorta of) by going to kde-look.org and downloading the crystal 0.85. Then as root I untarred it /usr/kde/3.1/share/icons, I then mv crystal crystalsvg and now KDE doesn't crash. _________________ What Larry was saying is that if you make it too easy for programmers, then poor programmers will be able to do things best left to good programmers, and will inevitably do them poorly. Thanks! I knew that crystalsvg was related somehow as default.kde was symbolically pointing to it.. but I wasn't connecting the dots. Now that kcontrol doesn't segfault I can change the icon themes to whatever (i.e. the new noia ). Thanks again. |
