ever hear of spending then not having enough money at the age of 14? That's piracy right.
And was this a thread to voice yer oppinions on my personal business on buying or pirating things. that doesn't matter. You should focus on the issue i addressed and keep the unneccessary replys to yourself. open up nano... type them there if you want. I dont give a flying ____ about what you think.

As far as wine.. yeah i have it installed already so that's pretty convinient. I never saw that page. Didn't come across that in my searches. This should do. Im also trying qemu.:)

Hello,

I've got it running with Crossover Office, but it still doesn't run in the same speed as in windows. Especially when I try to open big projects or images and use a filter then, Photoshop becomes really laggy.

The only method where I gained as much perfomance as in Windows was running Photoshop in VMWare, but VMWare is even more expensive than Crossover =)

Try gimpshop -- makes gimp look and feel like photoshop -

I'll peak at vmware. maybe it's worth it?

Gimpshop eh? This is pretty neat. my main reason why i dont like the gimp as much as photoshop is cuz ive been using photoshop for years and gimp is nice but has a strange setup. I am determined to get ps working with wine and juge how it performs. I remember a while ago, when portage was a little older, i would ge tthe older wine that had the ~/.wine/config file after i had synced. All i get is the latest version that doesn't have the config file. Is there any ideas as to how i can get wine working w/ photoshop using that link above with this new version? Thanks

oh yeha. qemu sucked imho. it needs a whole harddisk, that means bye bye windows apps. I dont thinkso :S

GimpShop is a nice idea although I don't use it because it doesn't really make sense to me. Gimp is different from Photoshop and all the tutorials out there in the internet are for the standard Gimp, so it doesn't make sense. It would have been better when these guys had modified the complete GUI of Gimp to create a look like Photoshop :)

Photoshop cannot be run in wine past version 7. The CS series of photoshops require an NT service to authenticate the license. Photoshop is generally a very demanding program so I wouldn't get your hopes too high for having good perfromance in an emulation environment.

The following are dialogs initiated in result to 'wine AdobePS7Tryout.exe' typed into bash.

Code:

C:\windows\...
Write protected
[ok]

Code:

Error
LoadLanguage Failed
[ok]

Code:

Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) 7.0.1 Tryout installer.
This Self-extracting achive will now run the Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) 7.0.1 Tryout installer.
[yes]  [no]

I clicked yes.
Code:

Adobe Photoshop(R) 7.0.1 Tryout installer
124
C:\windows\temp
[_________________________________________________________]
progress bar ^^

install shield
-----------------------------------------------
                 [back][next] [cancel]

nothing happened... no progress just a blank bar... so at teh same time that launches i get
Code:

C:\windows...
Path not found
[ok]

I click next from the previous window or ok from this window and i get another dialog
Code:

Unable to Exec...
"Setup.exe" /SMS
[ok]

/me clicks ok
omfg....
Code:

Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) 7.0.1 Tryout installer.
[ X ] Unable to execute the specified command line!
[ok]

me clicks ok again...
thats it. wine chills for a minute then prompts me with a new commandline. any ideas? :)
