Hi guys, I wonder if anyone out there can help me.
I want to install gentoo on a box, that is connected via usb to a 2wire router (it says bt wireless 1250 on the router - but shows as 2wire in a device manager on a win box) .
When testing knoppix it picked up the usb connected network straight away and got the setup via dhc - but when booting with the gentoo cds it didnt want to pick it up.
I realise that using an ethernet card instead may be an option, or getting a switch and plugging the router into the switch along with the various boxes is also an option - but is there a way I can make it work via usb?
Trying net-setup doesn't work, I assume I need to do some sort of modprobe maybe?
anyhow, any help appreciated!

I had the same "problem"...
Try to activate "Multi-purpose USB Networking Framework" as a module. You will find this option in -> Device Drivers -> USB support -> USB Network Adapters in the kernel config. If you are using udev, you should get a ethx-device (eth1, eth2...), in the moment you plug in the usb cable. You can use this device like a "normal" ethernet card. |
