|

Hi. It seems like this has come up with other people, but after hours of following previous posts, I've made no progress.
When I try to play a wmv file inside of Firefox using mplayerplug-in, audio works fine, but there's no video. Just a scroll bar moving across the bottom as it progresses. Loading the video in regular Mplayer works fine, though, so I know that the win32codecs are working there. I've tried both versions 1.66 and 1.80 for mplayerplug-in, but that's made no difference.
I'd be happy to post information from files and outputs from commands, but I'm not sure what would be most helpful. Here's a relevant portion of my "about:plugins," though:
Code: | QuickTime Plug-in 6.0, Windows Media Player Plugin are supported by mplayerplug-in
File name: mplayerplug-in.so
mplayerplug-in 2.80

I've also experimented with various USE flags for MPlayer, the most extensive being this:
Code: |
[ebuild R ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre6-r5 -3dfx +3dnow +3dnowext +X -aalib +alsa (-altivec) -arts +avi -bidi -bl -cdparanoia -debug +dga -directfb +divx4linux -doc -dts +dv* -dvb -dvd +dvdread* -edl +encode +esd -fbcon -ggi +gif +gtk -i8x0 +ipv6 +jack -joystick +jpeg -libcaca +lirc* +live -lzo +mad +matroska* -matrox +mmx +mmxext* +mpeg -mythtv +nas +nls +nvidia +oggvorbis +opengl +oss +png +real +rtc -samba +sdl +sse -sse2 +svga -tga +theora* +truetype +v4l* +v4l2* -xanim -xinerama +xmms +xv +xvid +xvmc 0 kB

So, yeah, any thoughts/suggestions/links/etc? Thanks.

have you emerged the latest win32 codecs? Can you post a link of something that doesn't work? _________________ Kris Edwards

Yeah, I've got the latest codecs emerged. An example of what wasn't working can be found at http://media.ebaumsworld.com/starwarskidedit.wmv
I managed to fix this problem by fiddling around with /etc/mplayer.conf. Why I didn't think to do this before is beyond me... Anyway, at least one of the following two lines are what fixed it:
Code: | vo=vx
ao=esd #Because I'm using Gnome

Thanks for the response. |
