Hi, is there any security tool for linux ? for checking my local box. I dont like web based tools. Something like languard in windows. Or something like mickeysoft baseline security analyser? |

Nessus has a fantastic GTK frontend. I use Nessus to scan our machines around here and it's wonderful. It'll dig up obscure vulnerabilities and everything. And BTW, the Windows version requires the use of a MySQL database or something...I don't remember what it was but it sounded like a daunting overtake even for a Gentooer. Just emerge nessus like the man said, rc-update add nessusd default, /etc/init.d/nessusd start, then type nessus after you've gone through the initial configuration at the command prompt. Enjoy!
