Route Freeze

i setup my gentoo box and managed to get it to share internet using the guide (cable modem method)

I have only one problem at the moment, when im using my windows pc to access the internet it freezes every so often, mostly noticeable when im playing a computer game online and my player will freeze for 10 seconds then it returns to normal or if im talking via mic to someone over the internet.

Its a bare bones setup just logged into root, without Emerging or anything...

Specs
k6-2 500mhz 384MB 120GB HD

Anyone got any ideas

What make and model are the NICs ?
How have you set up NAT ?
