Hi,

I'm having this error, at boot, even if i'm root

I tried to boot on a live cd, and then chroot, and still have the same error...

I tried to build a new kernel, but nothing seems to solve this error...

Any idea of what i can check?

Thx

Well, the exact error would be nice, along with the output of "mount".

after booting here is the error:

Code:

Gentoo Linux; http://www.gentoo.org/
Copyright ......

* Mounting Proc at /proc                                                  [ oops ]

* The "mount" command failed with error :
only root can do that

* Since this is a critical task, startup cannot continue.

output of mount:

Code:

/dev/md1 on / type ext3 (rw,noatime)
none on /dev type devfs (rw)
none on /proc type proc (rw)
none on /sys type sysfs (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
/dev/md2 on /tmp type ext3 (rw,noatime)
/dev/md3 on /home type ext3 (rw,noatime)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
none on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw)

/dev/md1 and /dev/ are correct, but for exemple /dev/md3 is supposed to have data, but nothing is visible...

The problem was, mount binary was corrupt...
re-emerge linux-util and it works! :)

how can I re-emerge all the system, without breaking my config?
