It's with great honor and pleasure that the Gentoo Linux KDE team (danarmak
and me) present you KDE 3.0.1!
*crowd goes wild*
As official KDE packager, we now get the tarballs a few weeks before the
actual release, which gives us a lot more time to test and tweak the ebuilds,
before releasing them to the broad Gentoo public.
Ofcourse, any problems you have with the ebuilds should be reported asap to
Danarmak (danarmak@gentoo.org) and/or to me (verwilst@gentoo.org).
For the first time ever, (as some of you might have noticed already), we have
a dir on kde.org, where our i586 and i686 binary packages will be put..
Because of some time-related issues, our binaries aren't ready yet, so
everybody with a little bit of time on their hands, and a nice fast CPU, ...,
should contact me, to discuss the creation of the binaries (with specific USE
flags and CFLAGS). Or, you can always sponsor me so i can buy a faster pc
myself ;o) *hint*
KDE 3.0.1 is primarily a translation/bugfix release for KDE 3.0, which shipped
in early April. In addition, KDE 3.0.1 offers a number of performance and
usability enhancements. For an extended list of changes since KDE 3.0, please
see http://www.kde.org/announcements/changelog3_0to3_0_1.html.
Enjoy it, and thanks for using KDE! )
