Today when I rebooted to use Windoze, LILO started spewing out nines, after printing LI:
LI 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 ... filling upp the entire screen eventually.
What is this? I haven´t changed anything with LILO or the bootsector after my latest startup, havent used Windows either so it can´t be a virus.
Tried out a new kernel earlier this week but it has worked fine after that.
I have a multiboot system, LILO installed on hda, booting Gentoo from hdb6 and Windoze from hda1. |

i dont know why its doing that, but a possible fix might be to wip out a gentoo cd, boot using that, mount your partition with linux on it, chroot, re-install lilo, or switch to grub, and reconfigure. hopefully that will keep you from having to reformat. _________________ Nine megs for the secretaries fair

Well, yes, I did and that worked. Forgot to write that
Haven´t booted Linux again yet so I don´t know if the problem will return. |

It happens sometimes to me too. I think it has something to do with Promise PDC 20265 onboard RAID controller. Never had this problem before I started using RAID 0 on my system. |

This is what the 'LI' means:
Quote: | The first stage boot loader was able to load the second stage boot loader, but has failed to execute it. This can either be caused by a geometry mismatch or by moving /boot/boot.b without running the map installer. |
I don't know about the 99 part, though. Maybe if you check your disk geometry and try to run the map installer (can't remember how to do that, I'm not currently using LILO) |
