Hi folks,
I'm trying to install Gentoo from within SUSE 9.2.
I've done a stage 3, and chrooted to /mnt/gentoo, but when I try to emerge --sync I get
"Profiles/arch.list is empty or not available. Empty Portage tree ?"
and the synch fails .
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks Jerry
(there seems also to be some difficulty resolving the rsync address, but the above is the first error message) might just be a SUSE firewall thing . . . . . _________________ Hopeless tinkerer with things that are best left alone

That should not cause the sync to fail.
In any case, you have forgotten to download and untar the portage snapshot as the handbook said. Type "exit" to exit the chroot. Do that, and then chroot back in, and retry sync. |
