Hi,
When initially ran 'grub-intall' after emerging it and making a grub.conf file, I received an error that looked like this (10 or so of them):
end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
I edited /boot/grub/device.map by commenting out the (fd0) /dev/fd0 and then was able to run 'grub-install.' I ran grub afterwards and i receive the same error once, and then grub starts. I was wondering if this is going to affect anything down the road (i.e. use of the floppy if I ever sink that low). Thanks. |

I think that's just some stuff grub spits out as it checks your BIOS drives... unless this didn't come right after the little disclaimer-type message. |

the first time around, before I commented out (fd0) /dev/fd0 in the file /boot/grub/device.map, grub wouldn't run. Now when I run it it gives me the error onces and then starts up. I've since moved on and rebooted and haven't had any problems, but I'm worried that my uncommenting might affect installation/use later on. My grub.conf file also has the floppy commented out and I wonder if I'll be able to use it or not later on. |
