Anyone know the quick way to do this? I want to install the blue steel theme instead of the new default.
I am pretty sure I'm using E16, the 'stable' one in the Emerge Tree for Porthole/Portage.

This is a simple matter of updating the entrance database. the command is
edb_gtk_ed entrance_config.db
and the key to change is /entrance/theme (go figure)
I think you have to do this as root to make the changes stick
I don't know where i saw this but if you want more help with Enlightenemnt check out

okay the correct version of that command seems to be:
Code: | edb_gtk_ed /etc/entrance_config.db
| according to info at
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Entrance#Configuration
in case anybody tried the other version and wondered why it didn't work.
This at least loads the actual database that Entrance is using.
In my case, only one theme is listed: default.eet.
I have downloaded two other themes in the form of a tarball package, which unpack several directories and files,
but I am unsure what the correct folder to unpack them into actually is. Anyone who has done this successfully
and has changed their boot theme please let me know. |

You've likely downloaded theme source. You'll need to compile it to an EDJ (or perhaps Entrance still uses EET, not sure) file. There should be a README with such packages though. _________________ Interested in E17? Get Enlightened by reading the user guide. |

actually the edb_gtk_en entrance_config.db workes just fine for me as both the excutiable and the .db are located in the same path, and the data files (.edj) are located at usr/share/entrance/themes and the list you should have by default is
default
Nebulous
darkrock
taillights
Also i have tried to use other themes found but have had no luck getting them to load. So good luck to you _________________ Visit the Lug DUGLUG |
