Sotto win avevo battezzato, per sfizio, Onip la mia chiavetta Usb (credo cambiando l'etichetta al volume). Con mia grande sorpresa gnome-volume-manager mi crea un'icona sul desktop che si chiama Onip quando la attacco. Adesso vorrei fare lo stesso con fotocamera e lettore mp3, è possibile in qualche modo?

l'etichetta della chiavetta è appunto il label assegnato all'fs (fat suppongo) della chiave,
se è possibile formattare o agire come su un volume qualsiasi sulla fotocamera e sul
lettore mp3 cambia label.
nessuna sorpresa cmq gnome-volume-manager recupera queste informazioni
normalmente quando monta i dispositivi se disponibili

Un'alternativa, se usi UDEV, è quella di rinominare addirittura il device.
Per la mia penna USB ho creato questo file
| Code: | cat /etc/udev/rules.d/30-usb.rules
BUS="usb",SYSFS{manufacturer}="Apacer",SYSFS{product}="HandyDrive",NAME="usbpen%n" |
e quando attacco la mia penna mi trovo il device
se poi vuoi fargli montare la penna in automatico, crei il file
| Code: | cat /etc/dev.d/usbpen/usbpen.dev
#!/bin/bash
sleep 5
mount -o uid=1000,gid=100 -v /mnt/usb >> /home/nbianchi/udevmount.log |

 Cioé formatti tutto per mettere una label ?
Ho un vago ricordo che mi suggerisce che forse dovrebbe essere possibile anche farlo con dd (passando i vari offset corretti, naturalmente), prova a cercare con google se trovi qualcosa.
EDIT: Forse ricordo male... in ogni caso c'é il comando mlabel negli mtools (sys-fs/mtools) che sicuramente é meglio del formattare...

tanto erano vuoti..... io cercavo una soluzione sbrigativa  . cmq x la prossima periferica (fotocamera) proverò così
