Molto probabilmente è una domanda dalla facile risposta ma cercando non ho trovato molto (anche perchè è difficile cercare vi..). Una volta era

Se sei particolarmente affezionato a vi (o meglio, a ex-vi) puoi prendere l'ebuild da CVS e metterlo in Overlay.
