|
|
Hello!
First boot of my hd, gentoo works good but i get a 'failed to bring eth0 up' line durning boot, followed by 'ERROR: Problem starting needed services. "netmount" was not started.
Sounds like a missing line in a config file somewhere, but i dunno.
I have two network boards, but only one that worked from the autodetect, so i just pretended i didn't have the other one.. i don't think that should mess it up tho.
Any hints? I coulda swore i'd seen this error before, but i didn't find it with my search.

The two NIC's are a Linksys 'LNE100tx' (which wasn't working earlier) and a ''LNEPCI2" i don't quite know which module would be in use by these.

ok.. right module for the lnepci2 would be 'ne2k-pci'
the other one needs a 'tulip' driver - sounds harder, so i'll leave it for now - i just want one to work at the moment.
How would i add the ne2k module in? do i gotta recompile the kernel?

If you want it as a module, you may be able to get away with just selecting it in the config and making modules and modules_install, but you would then have to also add it to autoload. All in all, if I were you, I would just compile it straight into the kernel. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

The Tulip adapter isn't really any more difficult then any other. Just enable
the driver and go from there.
It's under Network Devices --> Ethernet 10/100 --> DECchip Tulip (dc21x4x) PCI support
The onboard lan on one of my Abit motherboards uses the same driver.
Works just as well as any others I have (Intel eepro100 or 3Com 3C95x)

-- System halted
