|
|
I just installed a stage3 12h ago, then installed very basic packages (gpm, ssh, grub) so that the system can boot on its own. And I am now doing my emerge --newuse -uDv world. Due to a bug, I tried to emerge just gcc:
http://saturn.doublehp.org/tmp/gcc.log2.txt
says:
Code: | stage1/xgcc -Bstage1/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -O2
-march=pentium3 -fprofile-generate -DIN_GCC -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -pedantic -Wno-long-long
-Wold-style-definition -DHAVE_CONFIG_H
-I. -I. -I/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.3.20050110-r2/work/gcc-3.4.3/gcc
-I/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.3.20050110-r2/work/gcc-3.4.3/gcc/.
-I/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.3.20050110-r2/work/gcc-3.4.3/gcc/../include
-c insn-attrtab.c \
-o insn-attrtab.o
insn-attrtab.c: In function `get_attr_ppro_uops':
insn-attrtab.c:27962: internal compiler error: in label_rtx, at
stmt.c:475
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions.
The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.
make[2]: *** [insn-attrtab.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory |
also see http://saturn.doublehp.org/tmp/make.conf
what can break gcc ? which other log is needed to track the problem ? _________________ DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre (aka DoubleHP ) http://www.demaine.info/

neither distcc nor -pipe were the trouble ... just cheap memory which did not support my new CPU at high speed ...
I bought 66 and 100Mhz memory, and my new CPU at 133FSB is just too much for them
The key point to discover that was that the bug in emerge never occured twice exactly at the same place ...
logging everything helps a lot ...
adding PORT_LOGDIR="/var/log/portage" to make.conf helps a lot (dont forget the proper mkdir ) _________________ DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre (aka DoubleHP ) http://www.demaine.info/
