For some reason amarok will play .mp4 files if I open them directly but it won't add them to the media library if I add the folder to my media list. Any ideas?

It'll only add formats that taglib can read into the media library. mp4 doens't seem to be one of them. http://developer.kde.org/~wheeler/taglib.html
