Hi folks.
Yet another post. I love posting my different errors in different posts. It's easier to follow them.
I installed bootsplash today. Followed the howto posted on this forum. Unfortunatly my resolution doesn't chnge nor do I get a different background. I can post things that are requested, I use the laptop so I type them over.
Can someone give some tips? There are no errors at all...

You might want to give your config _________________ Real programmers don't document. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand. |

not sure which config (still learning), but I'll post my grub config here to start. If a different is required please let me know.
Code: | #which default to use
default 0
#How much wait time
timeout 30
#Which background image to use
splashimage=/grub/splash.xpm.gz
#Options
Title=Bare Gentoo Installation
root=(hd0,0)
kernel=/kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r6 root/dev/hda3
title=Test Bootsplash & Network (Wireless)
root=(hd0,0)
kernel=bzImage root=/dev/hda3 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr
vga=0x31a
initrd=/initrd-1280x1024

Oh maybe of use. I have a Nvidia 128mb video card fx5200. The Nvidia support in the kernel is disabled, as requested in the howto. |

Oops
Unfortunatly I can't do the howto. It wants splashutils to be installed which I can't do for I have bootsplahs emerged which has a media-fgx/bootsplash which conflicts with bootsplash utils. I tried to unmerge it but I can't get it done. I did discover that the kernel image also won't let fvwm start using startx fvwm. Maybe there's a connection? |
