I emerged pan yesterday, what should have been a minor upgrade .91 to .91-r1. I use it for gmane.org mailing list to news gateway, and easynews, and have never had a problem. All of a sudden, it ignores the thousands of group headers, and only shows the first 5-10 headers from the group's inception. I've tried all types of reset procedures, even to the point of deleting the whole ~/.pan user data directory.
I can only presume that there is an underlying library which has changed its behavior, and pan is going to be mistaken about the headers until that bug is fixed. Does anyone else see this behavior and have any ideas, so that I may file a more focused bug report?
Code: | * net-news/pan
Mon May 31 16:38:11 2004 >>> net-news/pan-0.14.2
merge time: 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
Sun Jul 18 13:30:49 2004 >>> net-news/pan-0.14.2.91
merge time: 1 minute and 7 seconds.
Fri Apr 29 13:20:20 2005 >>> net-nntp/pan-0.14.2.91-r1
merge time: 3 minutes and 14 seconds.
Fri Apr 29 23:01:42 2005 >>> net-nntp/pan-0.14.2.91
merge time: 3 minutes and 20 seconds. |
I guess I'm going to try thunderbird as a newsreader in the meantime, I can't go without gmane for very long Thanks. |

I just updated pan today, and I'm experiencing the same problem. |

Same problem for me!
If you click Tools -> Log Viewer You get tons of entries like this:
Code: | Sun, 01 May 2005 00:31:05 GLib - g_node_insert_before: assertion `G_NODE_IS_ROOT(node)' failed |
I guess it's a glib problem, because downgrading to 0.14.2.91 (which worked for me) shows the same result. _________________ "Linux is like a Wigwam, no Gates, no Windows and an Apache inside!" |

OK! I take back my "It's all glibs fault!"
It was a Pan Bug and it's fixed in 0.14.2.91-r2
