On my private network I would like to allow local clients to access my xserver without tunneling over ssh. In the past I just perfromed xhost +, but this dose not work as my Xserver has not opened up the X11 TCP/UDP ports (a "netstat -a" indicates this). How do I configure the server to do this please.

Thanks
William

You should remove "-nolisten tcp" from xserver starting options. I start x'es with startx. So I've got it there.

Well see this: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-242714-highlight-xorg+nolisten.html

And just do the opposite :)

Thanks,

This helped, a quick find & grep identified other files with "-nolisten tcp" and bingo.

I use gdm to start my xserver at boot so I had to change the gdm.conf file in /etc/X11/gdm from "#DisallowTCP=true" to "DisallowTCP=false" and all works.

Regards
William
