Hi!
I use XFCE4 as desktop manager. It's great program and I like it.
The problem is I can't browse SMB network by using xfsamba from
xffm. I see much less computers attached to network to compare
with command line prog smbtree.
I know that there are a lot of comps around with Windows on board,
so at least I shoud see these names if I can't go inside.
But in many cases I could not see even my comp with samba started,
although other people could browse my share without any problem.
I don't see smbtree as a solution of such a problem.
Could some one suggest what should I do in this case?
I've tried other smb browsers but they are even much worser.
Thanks, _________________ Lefsha |

I used to use smbc and LinNetworkNeighborhood with great comfort.
But - IMHO - the best solution is to emerge konqueror. |

Or, since you're using GTK anyways, emerge nautilus. _________________ word. |

Is there anything out there that automagically creates a directory tree I could browse with any application? Ivman handles my removable drives just fine, is there anything like this for samba? |

for example with konqueror (or smbc for the CLI) you can browse them (both directories and workgroups) as they are local directories. So I don't understand what you need? |

I mean without a special filemanager. I'm really not going to emerge konquerer just to browse workgroups.
I'll have to learn a bit more C and see if I can make it happen.
Thanks for your smbc recommendation, it looks like something I'll use.
EDIT:
look at this sweet little project:
