I can't get my dvd+/-rw to write properly so I decided to try scsi emulation. How do I do that? I compiled "SCSI emulation support" (under ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support) in my kernel and added hdc=ide-scsi in my grub.conf. Is this enough? Which device file name should I use? I have only /dev/hdc at this point (using udev) should't I also have sdc?

you need to turn off the IDE CDROM support as well , it seems to take precidence if they're both present.
drive will probably come up as /dev/sda if you dont have any other real scsi devices.
udev may need a little help if you dont see sda next time.
