Yeah, like we're going to be up-to-date on an obscure Intel model number? Think about it.
It's about the chipset, of which I favor Atheros.
I assume these are pcmcia? You need to say these things. Google your model numbers, and see what chipset they use.
Like so many things, there are LOTS of brands, yet few producers. Once you know the actual hardware, THEN google for " linux MY_CHIPSET_HERE" and see what comes up.

I also HIGHLY recommend Linux Unwired, by O'Reilly Publishing. It's written by Roge Weeks, and a couple of other people too...

dkmweeks: ipw2100 and ipw2200 are chipsets and the drivers are conveniently named the same not something obscure like madwifi
qsd: the 2200 supports g, so it will be faster, kismet only supports the 2100 so if you're looking for some wireless fun go for it _________________ Dell 600m Pentium M 1.5 Ghz, 512MB, 40GB, ATI M9

Model #/chipsets?? IUnfamiliar with Intel wifi, what would any of us know?
I hope the g card retros to b, where needed.
The coolie thing about my madwifi/athros is: a/b/g. Though it's not supporting iwspy.(???)
Still, the decision is on 1) what do your need/expect, 2) do you have it, or can you get it, 3) will it configure, 4) kernel/tcp/ip procedures...
What do you know about the absolute file name of iptables' initiation script?

I think the two are about the same. Both will work, but the ipw2100 is older hardware so the drivers are more mature. _________________ Dell 600m Pentium M 1.5 Ghz, 512MB, 40GB, ATI M9

The two drivers are going to be merged in the near future. As to the monitor mode they are waiting for Intel's Legal department to give the ok. (firmware issue). I have the 2200 and the driver just gets better and better. I have used it with wep and WPA (wpa_supplicant). Both work well.
Just my 2 cents. |

I've got a 2200 too. I'm using it with wep under wpa_supplicant (I love that thing). I'm glad to hear monitor mode is still a possibility in the future. I'm currently using usb prism2 adapters to do it. _________________ Dell 600m Pentium M 1.5 Ghz, 512MB, 40GB, ATI M9
