Hey, gentoo newbie (debian oldie) here who is struggling to get his dvd burner working. I'm pretty sure this is a problem with my kernel config, but then again, maybe I'm wrong, but here is what is happening. When I run the command:
dvdrecord dev=ATAPI -scanbus
I get the following:

devname: 'ATAPI'
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
dvdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open 'ATAPI'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
dvdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
I've been futzing with this all day, and have yet to be able to get the thing working. In case it is useful, here is the output of my lsmod:

If anyone knows what I am missing (I think I have all of the relevent kernel devices either built in or as modules, but I must be missing something here), please let me know.
Thanks

I think that problem could be found a several times in the forum, if you have searched for.
You need SCSI and SCSI-Emulation support in your kernel.

I do have SCSI support built in, I am not sure about SCSI emulation, but I will check later today on that. However, it was my understanding that scsi emulation was not needed in the 2.6 kernel for cd burning. Am I misktaken about this?
Thanks

Oh, yes you're right. Emulation is not needed anymore. But try to search the forum for that topic. You will find the solution. _________________ Proud to be 100% M$ free |
