hi all, i have this problem :

My new system is a AMD64 based processor, MSI Nforce4 mobo and 2 SATA harddisk in RAID 0 mode. I have installed XP witch this partition mode :

40 Gb for system and program
250 Gb for storage
and i have a 100 gb more for a gento installation.
After gentoo installation from stage 3, i see only "GRUB.." after the boot sequence and the system is halted.
I want to use the 100 gb for gentoo but i don't want to re-partitioning the windows XP part of the disk!!!
So please tell me how to install gentoo on a RAID 0 SATA system without formatting and fdisking|
Thanks
Valentino

Check this http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/grub-error-guide.xml?style=printable for your error and try the suggestions mentioned there.

I have try but still not working. My problem is the same descript here, but the solution not work yet.

Code Listing 9.1: Grub Output

# grub
(At this stage, the installation stops)

Solution

If you haven't got a floppy drive, have you used the --no-floppy switch?

Code Listing 9.2: Installing grub using the --no-floppy switch

# grub --no-floppy

I still have a system halt!

What RAID driver did you use to access the array while you were installing Gentoo ?

If you didn't use one, then Gentoo was installed to only one of the disks, and not the RAID0 array.

Gentoo do not auto-recognize my sata-array? I only use the bios sata-array configuration. Sorry but i never use linux on 2 sata device in raid-0! Please explain me, i'm searched in the forum from 3 days, but i never find response!
Thanks

The older version that is here https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-258981-highlight-dmraid.html, you should be able to use irondogs live dmraid to install a 64 bit system
(I used an ide with mandrake to get thru it)

Enjoy
