|
|
Hi,
I've got problems with my usb after upgrading from kernel 2.4 to 2.6. First thing I'm trying to get to work is my scanner. I've followed various howto's but things are now even worse. sane-find-scanner used to show the scanner, but now it doesn't any more.
lsusb gives:
Code: | Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 |
when I'm sure this used to show the scanner too.
lspci gives
0000:00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCIController #1 (rev 02)
0000:00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCIController #2 (rev 02)
0000:00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI#3 (rev 02)
0000:00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCIController #4 (rev 02)
0000:00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02)
scanner is plugged in and turned on.
I have UHCI and EHCI compiled into the kernel
What else can I check!?
ta,
Tim.
Update: I've rebooted, and sane-find-scanner works now:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x011d [EPSON Scanner], chip=LM9832/3) at libusb:002:002
however, my plustek.conf points at device /dev/usb/scanner0, and yet I don't have a /dev/usb directory.
Any thoughts appreciated! T.
Update again: Fixed. Set the device in plustek.conf to auto rather than /dev/usb/scanner0 and all was happy.

sawyert,
Scanners are not supported via he kernel any more. You use usbfs and libusb
My /etc/sane/epson.conf contains
Code: | usb 0x4b8 0x110
# For libusb support for unknown scanners use the following command
# usb <product ID> <device ID> |
You don't need the /dev/... any more _________________ Regards,

Cheers, I've fixed it now. Was driving me mad! I set the sane scanner device to auto in plustek.conf.
