Hello everybody,
I am new to Gentoo and downloaded the universal image und the package iso.
I followed the handbook instructions... but when I call the bootstrap.sh script then I get an error because I dont't have an internet connection: the portage-2.0.51.19.tar.bz2 can't be downloaded of course!
How can I install gentoo without having an internet connection at first hand?
I read that this is possible with the universal cd that I am using, but how ?
please help me getting started!
greetings

You're probably using the wrong handbook.
If you want to install gentoo without an internet connection you have to use the "Gentoo 2005.0 Handbook". You can find it here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/2005.0/index.xml |
