|
|
Hi, I'm trying to install Gentoo Linux 1.4 RC2 (for Athlon XP) using the RC2 LiveCd, but it dosen't appear to be working.
#emerge sync
>>>Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will probably fix this.
>>>starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage...
<pause for about 2 mins>
rsync: get addrinfo: rsync.gentoo.org 873: Temporary failure in name resolution
rsync error: error in socket IO (code10) at clentserver.c(97)
I've made sure that my eth1 adapter is connected to the internet suitably, and am able to browse websites using lynx before chrooting the system. I've done the stuff about cping resolv.conf, but it still fails, and its doing my head in :/
Thanks for any help |

Something is crazy about rsync.gentoo.org:
Pittsfield Municipal Airport
The Pittsfield Municipal Airport is the "best kept secret" of Western Massachusetts. Centrally located in Berkshire County, the Airport offers efficient access to some of the State's most scenic landscape. Best known for quiet inns and antique shops, Berkshire County is equidistant from the Boston and New York metropolitan areas and is visited by millions each year.
Aside from its lakes and mountains, Berkshire County is also home to such attractions as Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Canyon Ranch, Cranwell Resort Spa & Golf Club, the Norman Rockwell Museum and MASS MoCA attract visitors from throughout the United States and the world. A myriad of small playhouses and cultural centers also call the Berkshires their home.
Airport Services
The Airport offers business and pleasure travelers access to the region via private and chartered aircraft ranging from single engine piston to multi-engine jet. The Airport typically serves aircraft such as Gulfstream V, the largest of the corporate class aircraft and, on occasion, narrow body airline class equipment. In addition to business related flights, the Airport also serves medical air-ambulance flights, freight charters and flight training. The Pittsfield Municipal Airport is home to more than 50 aircraft, including helicopters and fixed wing, which are flown for personal and business use.
Airport Facilities
Owned and operated by the City of Pittsfield, the 300 acre Airport consists of two paved and lighted runways, aircraft taxiways and ramps as well as 10 hangar buildings and a passenger terminal. The primary 5000 foot runway is served by three instrument approach systems allowing aircraft operations during periods of low visibility. An automated weather observation system provides pilots real time weather and other pertinent information concerning flight safety.
Driving Mileage from Pittsfield: Albany, NY
38, Hartford, CT
72, Boston and New York City
150.
