Dial up in Portland? NetZero?

My father-in-law has been using NetZero with XP now for about two years. He's an e-mail only kinda guy, but my wifes sisters keep messing his computer up, and I keep coming out to fix it.

I run Gentoo at home, and have used linux pretty much 100% for a year or more. I saw that NetZero now offers their dialer for Linspire now in .deb format. Can I use this with Gentoo somehow? If so, is it something I can hammer out pretty quick? I'm leaving in a couple days for Okinawa and won't be back for a few years.

I would like to drop Gentoo on his computer, and admin it from my computer way far away, that's the dream.
