I'm getting this message trying to emerge openoffice - still trying to set up this machine for general use.

Code:
ranlib libpython2.2.a
g++  -Xlinker -export-dynamic -o python \
                Modules/python.o \
                libpython2.2.a -ldl  -lpthread -lutil   -lm glibc
g++: glibc: No such file or directory
make: *** [python] Error 1
g++  -Xlinker -export-dynamic -o python \
                Modules/python.o \
                libpython2.2.a -ldl  -lpthread -lutil   -lm glibc
g++: glibc: No such file or directory
make: *** [python] Error 1
dmake:  Error code 2, while making './unxlngi4.pro/misc/build/so_built_so_python'

I'm not sure what else can be done. Oddly enough, I don't have python 2.2, although I have python 2.3.5, but it's complaining about glibc at the moment.

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm getting this as well, just for the record.

Pending revdep-rebuild.

I'm not really entirely sure what you mean by "revdep-rebuild". Is that something on the emerge commandline?

Thanks,

Reverse dependency rebuilder. Yes, just fire it off at the command line. Doesn't always behave itself.. you may need to manually remerge some stuff or what-not.

It fixed my python problem, but now I'm getting some other error. I'd post the error, but I lost it. Doesn't seem to have showed up in a log or anything. :oops: I've got more important things to do besides babysit an OO.o compile three times in a row, so I'm just going to say "screw it" and use it on my windows box. :roll:

I don't have much choice but to get OOo installed - I use it for everything. Including work who mostly uses MSWord, so in order to read/write those docs, OOo makes the most sense.

Anyway, revdep-rebuild isn't found ... where is this file, or what do I need to emerge to get it? Thanks.

You can also try to emerge openoffice-bin instead of compiling it yourself (unless you really want to tweak something).
Both are same version atm as well (1.1.4-r1).
