It took me a few minutes to think of a descriptive title for this post; to be honest, I'm not quite sure what's going on. I have a Linksys WPC11 v3 PCMCIA wireless card. It works very well in all the laptops I've installed it in. Well, I've had to do a few re-installs over the past few months, and I've noticed that no matter what I do I cannot get the WPC11 card to work right under 2005.0. I've tried four computers... doesn't work. I boot off the gentoo install on two of those computers, and the card works perfectly. I am using the 'do pcmcia' option with the live cd. Heck, iwconfig lists "wlan0 and wifi0' . (Not sure why there's two.. but if I change the setting on one, they both change.) Now, when I boot, the essid is set to 'test', and link is 0. (I'm sitting a foot from my hub...) The card's linklight is blinking... which means it's not finding anything to connect to. I've tried the card in ad-hoc mode with my other laptop and a built in card... no dice. Also, setting 'essid any' does't work... it says it's an invalid operation. That's odd, since it works in all my gentoo installs (I have to change essid's alot on my college)
Another interesting note: I've tried live cd's back to 2004.0. Only 2004.0 and 2004.1 work. (I'm not sure about 2004.1, I lost my CD, but I'm pretty sure it worked). Nothing from 2004.2 and above work.. they all do the exact same thing. _________________ --Mac
