Im on XFree86 4.3.8 or something, and I really want Xorg.
Because you guys in portage merged XFree and XOrg,
I would just really need to update Xorg-x11 . The only problem
is when I attempt so, Mozilla FireFox and Thunderbird are blocking the
mandatory freetype package. What can I do??

You won't loose anything from /home or /var (which is where emails and other settings are stored) |

Ok, but how do I restore these settings after emerging it again? Or do I have to?
Keep in mind I need to be root to emerge something, and the usual email is all in
my regular user. Will that make any difference? _________________ iMac G4 1GHz :: q6600 //2x 500GB//2GB RAM//8600GT//Gentoo :: MacBook Pro//2.53GHz |

You will not notice any difference, all your old settings and data will be kept. Portage only deals with the system-wide executables, not the user settings. |
