I have a intergrated broadcom wireless card(CRAP!) and the 2005.0 distro doesnt see it. Now i put in a copy of gnoppix, which can see the card. So what I did was lsmod to see what the .ko file it uses from /usr/lib/module/driver/net and copy it the same path in my local gentoo system. I configure modprobe.conf to point my driver with a simple name. the program modprobe doesnt see it.

sucks to be a noob.....

Kernel modules should go into "/lib/modules/<version>/kernel/." Also, usually trying to insert a module compiled for one kernel into another running kernel with a different configuration can cause a lot of problems. You probably want to try ndiswrapper, which is a kernel wrapper for the Windows Broadcom wireless drivers. A search should result in a few howtos/guides if you're interested...

It's what I had to do, and I thought it was pretty effective.
