Now what,
did you set a password or not -- and how do you try to access the remote? ssh, telnet, rlogin, ftp? _________________ ALT-F4 |

Hi,
I still don't get it. You have running Samba on a Linux machine and try to access at it from another Linux box via smb4k, or what?
Have you setup samba on the remote as well? You should provide the Workgroup and also WINS is a good idea... _________________ ALT-F4 |

I have two computers both linux gentoo and both have smb4k. If i try to access computer 1 from computer 2 then computer 1 ask for a password which i never remeber ever setting. And it is not the root password or my password. And if I try to find computer 2 throught smb4k computer 1 can not find it. So i was wondering how to get one of the computer to access the others files. _________________ Orangeman |

It depends on your samba setup which shares are accessible with a password only and for which you don't need one... either way you have to add users to the /etc/samba/private/smbpasswd|secrets.tdb file through the smbpasswd tool.
