|
|
When there is too much white on my screen (or similar, bright colors) my monitor cuts off. It's not quite a DPMS-type shut-off. It dies and squeals.
This started happening after I switched to XOrg from XFree. This does not happen under Windows. While the monitor must be partially at fault, if it was just a case of a dying monitor it should do the same thing under Windows.
Does anyone have even the vaugest idea what may be going on here? I've tried axing DPMS entirely which didn't help.

It could be your monitor has a too high refresh rate. Windows tends to stay at 60hz even if you set it higher.
try lowering the refresh rate, and see what it does _________________ kind regards,
