I figured out my problem that i had posted here initially
narrowed down my problem more
different sample rates work 48000 44100 ..
when i don't have a soundfont loaded it seems to work perfectly the (light blicks if i run qsynth interface upon hitting midi keys)
when i load a SOUNDFONT as soon as i press a key on the midi keyboard the program exits
It exits before i even hear a sound
I have tried different soundfonts from different places on the net
I have jack-audio-connection-kit setup right with realtime kernel support via 2.6 kernel
I also have hydrogen drum machine working with the midi connections and sound and everything.
I run gentoo-amd64 but i have not really seen much indication it is amd64 problem... haven't really seen any other posts on net seem to help me
midi works fine in hydrogen
anyone have this problem? |

Fluidsynth is flakey. I only got mine to work after turning off both the chorus and reverb effect, and building it without any optimization flags whatsoever.
If you can't get Fluidsynth to work you can always load them with timidity. _________________ "...as we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours, and this we should do freely and generously." -Benjamin Franklin |

Code: | How can I tell timidity to load a special soundfond from fluidsynth? |
You can't. Timidiy doesn't need fluidsynth, it loads the soundfont directly. You have to set it to do so in it's config files. Look through the config files, there are some examples within the config file comments on how to load a soundfont. _________________ "...as we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours, and this we should do freely and generously." -Benjamin Franklin |
